Croydon Roots Brings Black Heritage, Storytelling and Performance to Soul-Full

Free three-day Black History Month celebration will unite generations through live performance, heritage workshops, film and community storytelling from 23–25 October.
CROYDON, UK — Soul-Full will present Croydon Roots – A Soul-Full Celebration of Croydon’s Black Heritage, a free three-day Black History Month programme running from Friday 23 October to Sunday 25 October at 62 George Street, Croydon, CR0 1PD.

Celebrating the people, creativity and stories that have shaped Black Croydon, the programme will bring generations together to honour local trailblazers, amplify new voices and uncover untold stories. Visitors can enjoy spoken word and live music, explore photographs, objects and testimonies in the Croydon Roots community exhibition, take part in hands-on heritage workshops, film showing and record their contributions .
Performers on the Friday 23rd include Soul Purpose 360 members performing Spoken Word, Poetry and Songs
The programme includes Legacy Roots: Stories of Croydon’s Black Women, a participatory heritage and intergenerational storytelling project by Her Maternal Archive®, delivered by 22 House of Books.
Families, young people and elders will also be invited to share memories and contribute to Croydon’s oral history archive with Femme Fatale TV in the Podcast Studio.
On Sunday, the Croydon International Film Festival will host film screenings and discussion forums. Further contributors will be announced.
From the opening-night showcase and Family Heritage Day to the community screening and closing forum, Croydon Roots invites people of all ages to connect with Croydon’s Black story—past, present and still being written.
