National Survey to Amplify the Voices of Black Women and Girls Across Britain

Soul Purpose 360 Calls for the Largest Community-Led Conversation on the Lives, Experiences and Futures of Black Women and Girls
A major national survey aiming to capture the experiences, challenges, aspirations and priorities of Black women and girls across Britain will be launched by Soul Purpose 360 CIC as part of its growing #DefinitionRedefined campaign.
The survey which launches on 26 October 2026, invites Black women and girls from all backgrounds, ages and regions of Britain to contribute their experiences on issues ranging from healthcare, mental wellbeing and education to employment, housing, safety, finances, leadership and representation.
The findings will form the basis of a landmark report to be launched around International Women's Day in March 2027 and will help shape future services, policy recommendations and community-led solutions.
According to Palma Black, Founder and CEO of Soul Purpose 360, the survey represents an opportunity for Black women and girls to tell their own stories, in their own words.
"For too long, the experiences of Black women and girls have been hidden within broader statistics, misunderstood or overlooked altogether. We know that Black women experience unique challenges in healthcare, education, employment, housing, safety and many other areas of life. Yet we also know that Black women and girls are resilient, innovative, community-minded and ambitious. This survey is about understanding both the barriers and the brilliance. We want to hear from Black women and girls across Britain, whether their experiences have been positive, challenging or somewhere in between. Every voice will help shape a clearer picture of what needs to change and what is already working."
The survey includes topics such as:
· Physical and mental health
· Healthcare access and experiences
· Housing and homelessness
· Education and lifelong learning
· Careers and entrepreneurship
· Financial wellbeing
· Community safety
· Violence against women and girls
· Faith and spirituality
· Relationships and family life
· Digital inclusion
· Disability and neurodiversity
· Climate and environmental wellbeing
· Leadership and civic participation
· Joy, aspirations and future opportunities

Importantly, the survey will not only identify challenges but also seek solutions by asking respondents how they would like to contribute to creating change in their communities.
Participants will be invited to become part of a growing movement that includes volunteering, mentoring, policy advocacy, local hub development, research partnerships and the proposed National Commission on Black Women and Girls. Sign up to register to take part in the survey by clicking this LINK
Creating a National Evidence Base
The initiative comes at a time when many organisations, funders and policymakers are recognising the need for stronger evidence about the lived experiences of Black women and girls, and at a time when racism is increasing, diversity initiatives are under threat, and violence against women and girls is rising, underscoring the urgent need for informed, targeted action.
The final report will provide insights into both inequalities and opportunities, creating a foundation for:
· Future service development
· Funding investment
· Public policy recommendations
· Academic and research partnerships
· Community-led solutions
· National campaigning activities
Soul Purpose 360 hopes the findings will also support the development of a major national conference in 2027, bringing together researchers, community leaders, policymakers, funders and Black women and girls from across Britain.
A Call to Action
Black women and girls are being encouraged not only to complete the survey themselves, but to share it widely with friends, family members, colleagues, community groups, faith organisations and professional networks.
Palma continued: "The strength of this project depends on participation. Whether you're 16 or 86, whether you're a student, entrepreneur, mother, carer, professional, retiree or community leader, your experiences matter. We want this research to reflect the diversity of Black women's and girls' lives across Britain. The more voices we hear, the stronger the evidence becomes and the harder it becomes to ignore."
Looking Ahead to March 2027
The findings will be published in March 2027 to coincide with International Women's Day.
The report will contribute to the ongoing #DefinitionRedefined campaign, which seeks to challenge stereotypes, amplify lived experiences and create opportunities for Black women and girls to thrive. The report's recommendations will also help inform future fundraising, programme development, research priorities and national conversations about equity, representation and opportunity.
