Folakemi Adelakun de Souza
Fundraising Coordinator
Hi, I’m Folakemi, or Fola, Kemi, or Folake for short. I’m an experienced fundraiser with over 10 years in the sector, having worked both agency-side for charities like Oxfam and Christian Aid, and in-house at organisations such as the Environmental Investigation Agency, the Migraine Trust, and Scope UK. In the middle of my fundraising career, I took a break to follow a dream — becoming a professional jazz vocalist in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve led many successful fundraising campaigns, raising vital funds for important causes and performing in some of Rio’s most exclusive venues. Through it all, I’ve discovered a few things I’m truly passionate about: building community, challenging myself mentally and physically, learning new languages, telling compelling stories (whether through copywriting or jazz), understanding people on a deeper level, and of course, enjoying a well-balanced cocktail!
What brought me to Soul Purpose 360?
Honestly, it felt like I manifested this role. The mission to empower Black women to thrive resonates deeply with me. I often tell my young daughter: “Sometimes, you have to be the change you want to see.” Being part of the Soul Purpose 360 team is a powerful way for me to live that truth.
